The Somerset Cider Brandy Company, a small cider farm and distillery owned by Julian Temperley, fashion designer Alice Temperley’s father, is launching a 20 Year Old Cider Brandy with a specially designed Damien Hirst label and packaging on Apple Day, October 22^nd.

Damien Hirst first offered to design a label in a promise to Alice ten years ago but shortly after Alice moved abroad and the matter was almost forgotten. However, at the Temperley London show during London fashion Week last month, Alice reminded Damien of his promise, and this explosive, vividly coloured box and label in Hirst’s classic artwork style is the result.

The label stands to commemorate a historic victory in Brussels over the right to use the words ÔÇÿCider Brandy’. After four hard years of campaigning against Spanish, Italian and Scottish objections, The Somerset Cider Brandy Company was awarded a PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) on September 13th 2011.

The Hirst limited edition label comes following previous designs including artwork by the late Dame Elizabeth Frink a revered British sculptress, and Sir Peter Blake.

Alongside the launch at Apple Day being celebrated at the distillery, Chef Mark Hix will be giving the introduction speech, musician cum foodie, Alex James will be selling his latest book along with his cheese and Alice Temperley, MBE will be there with her recently launched book True British, which amongst telling the story of the last 10 years of the House of Temperley also celebrates her Somerset heritage.

On Monday 19^th September 2011, the world of cinema, fashion, art and culture united in London for a spectacular event to celebrate the career of Mario Testino as he was honoured with the Moët & Chandon Etoile Award in its inaugural year.
The Mo├½t & Chandon Etoile Award recognises an outstanding individual in his or her field to celebrate an individual of exceptional talent who has had a longstanding influence on our cultural society. Who better to embody the spirit of the award than Mario Testino, who in 2011, is celebrating 30 years as one of the most internationally respected and iconic photographers of the century. Possessing uniquely personal relationships with his subjects, Mario has the remarkable ability to capture intensely intimate moments, which grace the covers of the world’s most influential magazines. In addition, Mario has been lauded with awards from all over the world and is frequently recognised for his achievements and charitable work.

Mario Testino says “For me, Mo├½t & Chandon represents excellence and luxury, for this reason I feel very honoured to be the first person receiving the Etoile award, in this my 30th year as a photographer, and I thank them for it.”

The award is was presented at a lavish 1930′s inspired party hosted by Mo├½t & Chandon, President Daniel Lalonde and co-hosts Lady Amanda Harlech, Hamish Bowles and Lucinda Chambers at the Park Lane Ballroom. This unique space was re-imagined and designed by renowned set designer Michael Howells. Michael transformed the beautiful, original art deco ballroom into an opulent 1930′s supper club with guests dressed accordingly in black and white. The interior was bathed in lavender light and giant Kentia palms lined the walls to create an astonishing back drop to the evening. Included in the avant-garde design of the room was a floor-to-ceiling, revolving champagne fountain and bar. This towering fountain cascaded with champagne throughout the night whilst continuously revolving within the circular bar. Guests were greeted by staff exclusively styled by Dior and the fashion house also provided make-up touch ups in the lady’s powder room through out the night.

Mario Testino was presented with the Moët & Chandon Etoile Award by his close friend Sienna Miller and Moët & Chandon President Daniel Lalonde. The award had been created for Moët & Chandon by Swarovski at their headquarters in Austria. To embody the Moët & Chandon Etoile ethos, Swarovski created a unique, asymmetric design with elaborate facets and exceptional brilliance in full-cut, clear crystal.

The El Salvador clinic was entirely funded from the sale of a single print from Mario Testino’s iconic portraits of the late Diana, Princess of Wales.
